http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/nonus.htm

Occupation: Rancher/Deputy

Affiliations: White Feather (Witte Veder)

Enemies: Iemand heeft ze allemaal

Known Relatives: Mrs.Stanhope (mother), Ann (sister), father deceased

Aliases: Stan Hope, (Maak de lijst vol, a.u.b.)

Base of Operations: S-Ranch, Mining Valley

First Appearance: Arendsoog (book 1 in the series)

Powers/Abilities: General western hero, be it one with a Native American partner who may be a tiny better than most, and the ability to see very well at far distances (this aspect has caused Native Americans to give Bob his nom de guerre) and to see extremely well in the dark too.

Bob Stanhope is a rancher in Mining Valley, Arizona, where he lives with his mother, his younger sister Ann and his best friend White Feather. He grew up on his parents' ranch, but his life changed dramatically when he was only sixteen years old. His father had been part of a jury that convicted a man called Moulders. Moulders revenged himself by besieging his ranch and killing him. This led Bob to decide that he would dedicate his life to helping others and to try to prevent others having to experience the same. From that moment on he and White Feather have hunted thieves and villains, have faced danger, but have never defeated. After he conquered Moulders, he started a ranch, which soon became a flourishing business and where, most of the time, he lives in peace with his family. Especially in the early years it is frequently shown that Bob is a devout Catholic, but later on his good principles are explained from his pure character, rather than his religion.

Bob often worked together with the federal army and the police, of which last institution he is a member in the capacity of deputy, in the district of Mining Valley. His adventures, however, do not only take place in Arizona; he has been to Mexico several times, to Texas, California, Canada and has even been received by the President of the United States to be thanked for rendered services.

The Indians called Bob Stanhope "Friend of the Indians", but also gave him the nickname "Eagle eye" because of his extremely good vision, especially at night. This, together with White Feather's creeping skills, often saved them from a certain death. His horse, Lightfeet, is one of the most fast, if not the most fast, horses in the West. He is very well trained and saved his master on several occasions by his intelligence and agility.

Bob Stanhope is not the strongest man on the world, but he is shown to be kind, modest, benevolent, intelligent, quick, filled with justice, a sense of humor and wit. In more than 65 adventures (mostly long, sometimes shorter) he shows himself to be a true hero.

Bob Stanhope is a rancher in Mining Valley, Arizona, where he lives with his mother, his younger sister Ann and his best friend Witte Veder (White Feather). Bob had a peaceful youth, but his life changed dramatically when he was only sixteen years old. His father had reported one of the big gangsters of that time, Fred Moulder, to the authorities. Moulders revenged himself by besieging the S-Ranch and killing Bob’s father…

This made Bob decide that he would dedicate his life to helping others and to trying to prevent others having to experience the same as he did. From that moment on, he and Witte Veder hunt thieves and villains, face danger and fight evil. Although hundreds of the States’ biggest gangsters try to kill Bob, he always finds a way to escape and, with a little help of God, in whom he believes strongly, overcomes all problems.

After defeating Moulders, he starts a ranch, which soon becomes a flourishing business and where, most of the time, he lives in peace with his family. Especially in the early years it’s frequently shown that Bob is a devout Catholic, but later on his good principles are explained from his pure character, rather than his religion.

Bob often worked together with the federal army and the police force, which he is part of in his function as a deputy in the district of Mining Valley. His adventures, however, do not only take place in Arizona. Bob has to travel to other states like Texas and California, but is also asked to solve mysteries abroad, in Mexico and Canada. Bob is widely known throughout the States, which is clearly shown by the President of the United States thanking him personally for rendered services.

The Indians called Bob Stanhope "Friend of the Indians", but also gave him his nickname "Arendsoog" (Eagle Eye) because of his extremely good vision, especially at night. This, together with Witte Veder’s ability to sneak with the stealth of a tiger, often saved their lives. Bob’s horse and companion, Lightfeet, is problably the fastest horse in the West. He is very well trained and saved his master on several occasions by his intelligence and agility.

Bob Stanhope is not the strongest man on the world, but he is shown to be kind, modest, intelligent, quick and filled with justice and a great sense of humour. Bob is not a person with no flaws, he has his bad habits, but that makes him a real personage and not just a flat character. In more than 65 adventures (mostly long, sometimes shorter) he shows himself to be a true hero. Nevertheless, Bob is not created as a invulnerable person. Death is sometimes nearby for him and his friends, and sometimes things seem rather hopeless. Still, Bob always manages to get out of trouble and stay the hero of the West!

Arendsoog    (Erne Eye)
Real Name: Robert “Bob” Stanhope
First Appearance: Arendsoog (1935) (book #1 of the series)
Identity/Class: Mutant
Occupation: Rancher, Deputy
Affiliations: White Feather, Lightfeet (horse) Jim
Enemies: Fred Moulders AKA Red Wolf, and hundreds of other bandits and other criminals (really)
Known Relatives: Mrs. Stanhope (mother), Robert James Stanhope (father (deceased)), Ann (sister) and some more Stanhopes (more distant relatives).
Aliases: Stan Hope, Bob Mining, Bob Storming, Bob Jessup,  Captain Bob Lensdorf, Friend of the Indians. In translations: Adlerauge (German), Kotkansilmä (Finnish), Örnöga (Swedish), Occhio di lince (Italian)
Base of Operations: S-Ranch, Mining Valley, Arizona
History:
Bob was the only son and eldest child of Roman Catholic immigrants from England,  Bob had a peaceful youth, but his life changed dramatically when he was only sixteen years old. His father had reported one of the big gangsters of that time, Fred Moulder, to the authorities. Moulders revenged himself by besieging the S-Ranch and killing Bob’s father. This made Bob decide that he would dedicate his life to helping others and to trying to prevent others having to experience the same as he did. From that moment on, he and White Feather hunt thieves and villains, face danger and fight evil.
In the first years of his crime fighting career he did so from a hidden cabin, cooperating with the police, but not part of it, by the use of his abilities and the friendship with the natives, most especially White Feather, who give him his nom de guerre he gets a fame as a superhuman crime fighting force around Mining Valley, a gold rush village, full of crime.
After defeating Moulders, he starts the S-ranch, which soon becomes a flourishing business and where, most of the time, he lives in peace with his family. Three years later most of the gold has been removed from Mining-Valley, most of the miners are gone, and peace ruled, the theft of the cattle of the S-ranch reunited Bob and White Feather, and at the end of that chaos of crime, theft and murder White Feather converted to Bob’s brand of Christianity, which Bob had been promoting among the natives and Bob starts a citizens´ watch of sorts.  Shortly after this Bob becomes a deputy. Now the base for the long series of adventures has been laid.
Especially in the early years it’s frequently shown that Bob is a devout Catholic, but later on his good principles are explained from his pure character, rather than his religion.Bob often worked together with the federal army and the police force, which he is part of in his function as a deputy in the district of Mining Valley. Bob is widely known throughout the States, which is clearly shown by the President of the United States thanking him personally for rendered services in Washington DC.

Powers/Abilities:  Bob is very talented and has trained much with fire arms. He is trained in stealthy movement and tracking by the best (i.e. White Feather). His ability to see very well at great distances  is that extraordinary that it has caused Native Americans to give Bob his nom de guerre, his ability to see in very low light conditions (non-absolute darkness) falls clearly in the superhuman range.
He is a great rider, the only person White Feather´s horse could not get off. Bob’s horse and companion, Lightfeet, is probably the fastest horse in the West. He is very well trained and saved his master on several occasions by his intelligence and agility. Bob is also a great rancher, which keeps him financially secure, and if it has to be a good cowboy too.

Not unimportant is that he has many friends, who often help him or ask him for help for themselves or others. Nevertheless, Bob is not created as a invulnerable person. Death is sometimes nearby for him and his friends, and sometimes things seem rather hopeless. Still, Bob always manages to get out of trouble and stay the hero of the West!
Comments: Arendsoog was created by the head of an elementary school J. Nowee, who also volunteered in a library, to give children, mainly boys, the cowboy stories they wanted to read. Karl May was still too difficult for them and hardly anything else was available and suited.

CLARIFICATIONS:
Bob’s foe Red Wolf (Moulders) should not be confused with the Marvel hero(es) of that name.

White Feather
Real Name: White Feather
First Appearance: Arendsoog (1935) (book #1 of the series)
Identity/Class: Normal human/Mystic
Occupation: ?
Affiliations: Bob Stanhope
Enemies:
Known Relatives: White Beaver (father)
Aliases: White, Black Owl
Base of Operations: S-Ranch, Mining Valley, Arizona
History:
Powers/Abilities:
White Feather´s senses seem to be as keen as possible for a human being. He is not bad with firearms either. He is a master when it comes to stealthy movement, and where it concerns tracking.
Comments:

CLARIFICATIONS:
A problem with this series is that everybody is supposed to speak English, but the series have been written in Dutch, so names can be often quite problematic.

Groetjes,

Karl May was still too difficult for them and hardly anything else was available and suited. Arendsoog combined the traditional western hero, with Roman-Catholic values fit for children. The series continued with the same publisher until 1993, the year in which P.Nowee, a son of J.Nowee, who had inherited the position of writer of the series during the writing of book #20.

It has been claimed that Arendsoog gained huge popularity when his a radio dramatization of his adventures was broadcasted by
Arendsoog had a comic strip, drawn by The Tjong Khing appearing in Pep in the years 1967-1968. Before that there had been illustrated stories about him in that magazine. Those stories were illustrated by H.G.Kresse, who was THE expert in Dutch comicdom on Native Americans.

Known Relatives: White Beaver (father)
Aliases: White, Black Owl

History: White Feather’s history is mostly a mystery, it is not even known to which of the native peoples he belongs. They seem to live in Arizona, but whether they are native Arizonans, or recent immigrants in Arizona seems unclear. It could be that

Powers/Abilities:
White Feather´s senses seem to be as keen as possible for a human being. His hearing is incredible, he can hear a horse arriving, while sitting in the living room of the S-ranch during a rain storm, and identify it as the sound of a single horse, and one that is ridden, in addition to that.

He is not bad with firearms either. He is a master when it comes to stealthy movement, and where it concerns tracking. Great rider, greater horse trainer.

a) Het hoorspel (Wanneer?)

Citaat
a) Het hoorspel (Wanneer?)

1948-1949 door de KRO

Citaat

In principe?

In ieder geval géén Engelse Arendsoog.  ???
